Commonholds


Commonhold: the new law

Commonhold is a new form of ownership and management for interdependent buildings such as blocks of flat, office blocks and mixed-use buildings. This course examines:
  • Introducing Commonhold

  • Background to the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002

  • The structure of the legislation: primary and secondary legislation

  • Commonhold units, commonhold associations and commonhold community statements

  • Setting up a new commonhold

  • Converting a leasehold building into a commonhold

  • Managing a commonhold

  • Buying, selling, mortgaging or leasing commonholds

  • How commonholds can be brought to an end.

This course provides a comprehensive account of the new law and how it can be applied in practice.
