Residential long leases

New Rights for Leaseholders

Most of the interest under the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002 has been on Commonhold. However, the Act gives substantial new protection to owners of long leases and in some respects to other tenants of dwellings. The course covers:
  • Ground rent notices

  • The new concept of "administration charges"

  • Service charges - amendment to the consultation provisions and other changes

  • Statements of account new requirements verification by accountants

  • Insurance of leasehold houses

  • Extended jurisdiction of LVT's and new procedures

  • Substantial further restrictions on forfeiture

  • The new right to manage
Suitable for lawyers and managing agents. (When the course is run for managing agents it is extended to cover basic lease terms and how these relate to the various statutory provisions).

Course leader: Gary Webber
2 hours CPD (3 hours for managing agents)
