Professional associations

Council for Licensed Conveyancers

Lots of useful information about conveyancing and licensed conveyancers.

www.theclc.gov.uk

Property Bar Association

The association of barristers specialising in property law. It has a full list of members with links to their respective web sites. Also details of lectures, some of which are open to solicitors.

Property Litigation Association

Formed six years ago for solicitors substantially engaged in property litigation. The PLA now has over 350 members spread throughout the country. A particularly interesting feature of its site is a Dilapidations Protocol.

Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors

A lot of information and links. Of particular use to landlord and tenant lawyers is detailed information on PACT (Professional Arbitration on Court Terms), the scheme that can be used to resolve lease renewal claims instead of litigation. Also access to the RICS bookshop.
