The Law Commission: Renting Homes - Final Report
The Law Commission has published its final report on renting homes. Proposals are made for a wholsesale reform of both private and public sector tenancies and licences. A draft bill is also attached to the report.

The Department for Communities and Local Government has published this document, which outlines proposals for the private rented sector. There are a number of recommendations including:
A mandatory national register of landlords.
Regulation of letting and managing agents.
Mandatory written tenancy agreements (para 13)
Increasing the annual rent limit on assured tenancies from £25,000 to £100,000 (from 1 April 2010 with 5 yearly reviews).
