Commons Act 2006

The Commons Act 2006 was passed on 19 July 2006. The Act modernises and improves the law of registration of commons and towns and village greens and has details provisions relating to management and the carrying out of works.

Sections 54 and 55, which deal with the power to amend other statutes, come into force on 19 September 2006. The rest will be brought into force in different stages. Matters dealing with severance of rights will (in England) be in force on 9 September 2006 but with effect from 28 June 2005 (s9(7) and order below).
