Career History and Principal Areas of Practice

Jacqui is a partner in Thomas Eggar’s Property Disputes Resolution department and has 18 years extensive experience in all types of property disputes including acting on several reported cases. She also has experience in all aspects of litigation from County Courts to the House of Lords.

Jacqui has experience in contract and tort disputes and, in particular, has specialist knowledge of property law including all types of landlord and tenant disputes e.g. arrears, dilapidations, forfeiture, rent reviews etc, professional negligence actions,, trespass, rights of way, rights of light and restrictive covenants, insolvency issues, rectification, possession actions, renewal of business tenancies, rectification, misrepresentation, specific performance and other contractual issues.

She also provides specialist advice to clients in relation to legislative developments and procedural reforms in the commercial property sector.

Jacqui is an experienced mediator having been involved in numerous settlements both in property and general commercial disputes. Examples of the types of cases include;
  • Breakdown of a professional partnership with ensuing property and contractual issues.
  • Breach of repairing covenants
  • Sale and purchase or property disputes
  • Dispute over architect’s fees
  • Professional negligence dispute

Other information

Jacqui is Chair of the Law Reform Committee of the Property Litigation Association and was heavily involved in the amendments to the Dilapidations Protocol. She is a member of the 'Sounding Board' advising the Law Commission on changes to the law of forfeiture and the Government panel reviewing the changes to the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 and alienation. Jacqui regularly lectures and contributes to property journals. She is the author of Business Tenancies: The New Law - A Practical Guide to the Changes to the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954.

More pertinently Jacqui has three young children who provide plenty of opportunities to hone mediating skills!
